About The Artwork
This California Condor is a tribute to its spirit of survival and the pursuits of conservationists, whose efforts have resulted in this nearly extinct species returning from a population of 22 in 1987 to over 500 today. The highly textured halo contrasts with the smooth feathers and a deep red spray-painted background. The mass and power of a bird with a 9-foot wingspan, is in direct contrast to its fragile existence in nature.
