ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Even before there was writing, messages were sent, responses received. Original abstract pastel drawing on paper mounted on canvas. Side edges of canvas painted black, ready to hang. Part of the “Summer and Fall” series. Large shapes of diverse forms and colors across quiet backgrounds. The transition from summer to fall is a time that juxtaposes the rapid luxuriant activity of the growing season with a slowing down, a shedding of parts, an onset of dormancy. Both are held in tension at the same moment. These eclectic works grew out of the “Chasing Light” series but they are much slower in pace, they have larger, diverse elements, more stasis. The time for exuberant, ephemerality is being left behind, frantic activity is being replaced by contemplation, distinct moments last longer. View more in the series at .html.

Hi. I am a North Carolina-based artist. At some point, the world broke into particles, for me. I realized that matter was interchangeable. Everything is significant, in that, it is part of everything else. I start with matter and see how it comes together. There might be realistic elements or not. Mostly, my Art is about the glory of life. If we can find it. Recently, I am creating whimsical paintings with brightly colored tempera and latex (see these series: Memory Possibilities, Loblolly Memory Pad). Who knows what will be next? I was juried into the Orange County Artists Guild, OCAG, (Carborro, NC) in February, 2020. I moved to North Carolina in March 2018, after having lived in Miami for 33 years. Originally from the Chicago area, I was a founding member of the experimental art rock band Merz Pix. Private collectors across the US and the globe (France, the UK, the Netherlands, Tasmania, Japan) have purchased my works.
