Born in France to Spanish parents, OROXO (meaning "The Red" in Galician) spent his early 20s in Paris, playing bass and keyboard in an industrial rock band. He then moved to Barcelona and took a job in digital media, designing album covers for local record labels. But after a decade of using only a computer to create, He yearned for a more visceral connection with his art, so transitioned to paint and canvas. Still living in Spain, he continues to push himself, experimenting with new styles and mediums. Nuanced and complex, with a propensity for iconography and symbolism, the diversity of Oroxo’s portfolio reflects his unique evolution as an artist. Dark and foreboding, he creates hauntingly elegant pieces that are textured dichotomies -- light and dark; hostile but serene; simplistic yet sophisticated -- that force his audience to confront the fleeting vibrancy of life and morbid inevitability of death. - Owen Maxwell
