Sushruta Chetan is a self taught representational artist who lives and works in Nagpur, India. She developed an early connection with the natural world. Following her 10 year career as a graphic designer she shifted her focus to creating nature-inspired paintings and drawings. Her activities involve roaming into the woods and meadows which serve as her primary subjects. She attributes her creative impetus to the immense harmony she finds in nature's colossal variety. She explains “from tree trunks to the smallest twigs; from roots to the veins in the leaves; in creepers, climbers & grass blades; in rivers, mountains and clouds; from quantum to cosmos, patterns are omnipresent. The awareness of these complex yet simple delineations outside gives us an insight into the complex yet simple design within". The artist explores the textural richness of charcoal medium to create tonal landscapes and florals. Her works offer a peak into the inherent beauty of the deciduous forests and grasslands of the majestic Vidarbha terrain. Alongside charcoal, she's practicing en plein air studies in oils using all prima technique to capture the ever transformative light and vibrant chroma in the subject.
