About The Artwork

This is the first drawing finished in isolation, during the coronavirus pandemic, in the year 2020. "Flame Casters and Catchers: All The Places Fires Go & The Ways They Warm Or Don't, While Hunted" is a mixed media piece that has touches of ink, acrylic paint, graphite, aquarelle pencils, and watercolor on archival paper. Made during this time of self-isolation that the world is collectively experiencing, this image uses flame-shaped objects to look at the ways inspiration and creativity change based on our access to shared proximity and social spaces. It is a reminder that the passion to create exists always, even if its form shifts, and we need to pursue more creative ways of hunting for that which inspires us. I'm including this list of symbols from the drawing, for any visually impaired art lovers: Some of the images in this piece are antique marble fireplaces, doubles, flames, purple unicorns, a surreal pastel-colored landscape, a summoner (artist/witch), and clouds. This inner-world drawing is shipped in a protective package, carefully packed and tracked, and comes with an emailed certificate of provenance for your records. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me!

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My paintings, often executed in low-lit, moody colors, are filled with bizarre figures, interacting or inhabiting solitary scenes with other unnatural presences, absences, and transpositions. I paint on old book pages and smooth sanded wood remnants, preferring the polished texture of things with lost histories. My intimately sized oil paint compositions often refer to disturbing and deceptive content and lend themselves to ambiguous interpretation. Surrounded by collaged wooden frames, these works are often figurative and a bit fabulist. For me, painting is a way of thinking through sight, and I am inspired by the indirect histories I find in literature and libraries. Object making is my way of rescuing short poems from permanent invisibility.
