ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In the series "Self Studies", I explore the subject that is always with me: my own face. It is a study of self-identification, like trying on carnival masks. The identity of the artist ultimately lies in her work no less than her likeness, and here the two become inextricably linked and inseparable. The contemporary artist can not be oblivious to the art history, and so my "masks" often represent a dialog with past and contemporary masters, adding another dimension to the notion of self-identification.
