'Intermittent Processing' is a work from a series of drawings called 'Datastream' depicting a mesmerizing stream of ink hatchings that hide a ground layer of acrylic paint. The series is inspired by the endless, dense and fast stream of information on the internet, of which you can often not ascertain what is true and what is not. By repeating lines Rappard creates dense patches that collide, together forming an image meandering between figuration and abstraction. In this work the stream of lines and blots is interrupted by black shapes that create a strange sense of spatiality: they appear to be holes opening a passage to another space. Acting on impulse and coincidence, Rappard carefully adjusts each drawing until it invites the beholder to enter it and wander around in it endlessly.

Marisa Rappard (1979) is a Dutch drawing artist. She creates works on paper and also lets the dense stream of lines emerge from the drawing and enter the room in installations. Though the pencil has been her favourite material ever since she incessantly drew comics in her childhood lately she is also venturing to use ink and acrylics, making large scale drawings on paper as well as working directy onto the wall.
