About The Artwork
The Island Candy Series is a group of works that are highly textural and painterly with heavy applications of different drawing materials and bold marks on textured paper. I created this spin-off set of works with this deliberate intention of invoking memories from somewhere with lush, dense and vibrant foliage. The works are not necessarily about a specific tropical plant or point in time past, present of even in the future - but more about a shimmering fragment - when life is all about saturated happiness. Remember how that tastes, looks and feels? The juicy candy colors are meant to be hopeful. Island Candy No.5 is created with acrylic, pencil, conte and pastel on pH-neutral 300gsm paper with a suggested 1/2" crop for framing. Full signature / date on the back, small signature on the front, COA and a fine layer of professional grade archival fixative applied to front of artwork to protect/inhibit UV rays.
