Painter and plastic artist, Elia Pagliarino is, above all, a researcher as an ethnologist who explores the facets of the human representation and the double play of the image. IN THE SERIES OF PAINTS CALLED "THE DOUBLES", men and women, dressed in luxurious costumes inspired by the classic painting of the XVIth, XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries, pose for us. An affected, even aristocratic attitude, far from the stereotypes of the photographic portraits. They have no last name, only a first name. THE TEMPTATION OF THE GAME TO RECOGNIZE THEM hides a deeper question: is resemblance enough to give evidence of the identity? THE PROFUSION OF THE IMAGES IN OUR ULTRA-MEDIATIZED WORLD hides the truthfulness of what is given to see. A fast search on the Internet delivers us confusedly a great deal of images for the same famous character : studio portraits, stolen photos, caricatures, doubles. All these images have the same name. WHO'S WHO ? What image certifies the identity of the model ? Beyond the world of the photography, my transcriptions weave a delicate balance between the subject, its image and its double. MY PORTRAITS OF WRONGLY CLASSIC STYLE, TRY to KNOCK DOWN THE ESTABLISHED CODES OF CELEBRITIES MEDIATISATION. Elia Pagliarino’s “WILD TALES" DRAWINGS are inspired by boards engraved of natural history of the XIXth century painted with ink and watercolour. Here, the human race becomes a subject of study throught its many facets. The “Wild Tales” reinterpret our children's stories and popular rites.
