About The Artwork

This artwork is about the current Refugee situation In the UK and Europe. All though I am not a refugee, I would like world peace and I think I am making a start to address it in my art. Horror Films such as Saw inspired this work of art. The Character Jigsaw is a judge in this piece. Judges control your path in life similar to Jigsaw controlling peoples life through psychopathic games in the film. I want to commentate on what I am seeing on the news similar to Jean-Michel Basquiat the way he was a commentator for social and economic problems in society at the time of his raise.

There is a Buddhist quote, “What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you create”. Therefore, I believe that everything starts from the imagination. Growing up as an individual you may not always be readily encouraged to make full use of opportunities to voice opinions. Through art I am endeavouring to voice my views on a wider scale. Believing in something enough can sometimes develop into reality. I picked a subject on the way I am feeling and what is going on in my life. I also I engaged in other artists work and how they make me feel. I try to use my drawings as metaphors to tell a story or describe a thought or thinking pattern in my mind. My work is like an autobiography. Felt tip are used in the drawings because it enables me to elaborate on mistakes. Similarly if you’re an actor on stage and you miss a line, the show must still go on. In life mistakes are made continually, but life still goes on. If mistakes are made in my drawing I elaborate them to add a new dimension within that particular drawing. From an early age I have been creating narratives and stories. It first started from a comic book style.
