Nude is a recurrent theme in artist's world. Vasile Dohotaru creates amazing ink drawings, using duck's feather. The process is a real performance, the artist being able to catch model's features in just a couple of minutes. With a couple energetic and nervous movements a masterpiece is being born.

Vasile Dohotaru, artist based in Chisinau, Moldova. Member of USESCO AIAP, Paris, France. Member of the Artists' Union of Moldova and Romania. Vasile Dohotaru was born on 10 April 1955 in the village of Curchi, Orhei. A graduate of the Ushinski Intitute's Arts School in Odessa, Dohotaru became member of the Moldovan Union of Plastic Artists in 1990, and six years later member of the Romanian counterpart institution. In 1997 he became member of the International Association of Plastic Arts UNESCO. A masterful combination of a warm color palette, chromatic dynamism and geometric equilibrium is perhaps what makes Vasile Dohotaru's paintings so special. Vasile Dohotaru says he has always enjoyed “manipulating” with colors and figures. Offering an insight into his style, he revealed that he works swiftly. “I work on my paintings very fast so as not to lose their freshness. If the work is fresh and quickly done, I hit the right note from the first strike, in excellent harmony, as I find the right plastic in the first half an hour”, says the artist, adding however that some of his works need more time to ripen. The artist says he has never worked with dull colors; the bright colors have inspired him since childhood, which he spent in the woods. “As a child I fell in love with nature and the colors which I found in the Moldovan folklore. But the dull colors don't touch any cord in my soul, so I prefer not to use them”, says the painter, recalling however a commissioned work which he had to do in black and white, “still I couldn't help not to drop some yellow and green on it”. Vasile Malanetchi, a critic, describes Vasile Dohotaru as an excellent maestro. “Through his originality, Vasile Dohotaru can catch everybody's eye. He communicates with people through colors, chromatic rhythm and dynamism, he has an extraordinary language”. source:
