Karl Fröman Biography Born on the 3rd of January, 1985 in Sigtuna, Sweden Karl has since a young age been actively painting. His painting took on a more pivotal role in his life when at the age of 15 he won the Melville Arts Award, junior category, Fremantle, Australia. The youngest ever awarded this prize. Constantly frustrated with the low standards of technical tuition in schools Karl spent much time studying painting methods practiced by his mother, a figurative painter, adopting her love of the old masters. In 2003 Karl was presented an award at the prestigious Sigtuna Skolan Humanistiska Läroverket for excellence within Art and after graduation left for England to study painting restoration. Finally, discovering the Florence Academy of Art he did some of his formal education with them in Gothenburg. Besides a deep love of painting Karl believes that a greater understanding of cultures and philosophy are of vital importance to an Artist explaining; "In all aspects of life we need to occasionally look backwards so the light of the past may illuminate our faces as we walk into the future". Having studied philosophy in the IB program his interest in the subject has closely followed the Art, so when presented an opportunity to privately study with the famous philosopher, businessman and author Chuyu Yue, having recently written a highly important philosophical work titled "˜Criticism of the Chinese people's thinking', Karl took the chance to live and work with the Author in Beijing, China. "Art is a language, as an author cannot rely solely on technical ability, an aptitude for psychology is of great worth and importance. Without knowledge of the world around us and those who inhabit it, one cannot accurately depict the human condition. I consider myself as both an anthropologist and philosopher, exploring the human psyche all the while introspectively diving deeper into myself. This is why I went to China to study under my friend Mr Yue; his grasp of manipulative psychology is outstanding to the point where he almost comes across as clairvoyant. A truly self actualized man". Karl has been involved in several joint exhibitions and has works in private collections in Australia, Sweden, Norway, America, England, Malta and China. He is currently residing and painting in Malta.
