About The Artwork
The drawing which initially was meant to be a study in anatomy, is a commentary and reminiscence of the CoVid era. Saint Quarantin depicts the artist with a portrait based on the sculpture of Galileo, who's been imprisoned for so long, that his only idea for a drawing is another depiction of imprisonment. I very much enjoy the simple elegance of linear, small scale naturalistic drawing which I perceive as extremely honest. I've drawn inspiration for this style from the drawings of Ingres and rare but exquisite studies done by Picasso in which the clarity showcased the expertise of both of those craftsmen.
