ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In the contemporary society that stands for easy gain, with the price of destroyed forests, polluted water and air, the Sanctuary is a metaphor for innocence, where the forest is the natural temple of the deer’s existence. The Sanctuary represents the road, the search, the discovery, the exploration, the shelter. I imagined a mythical space in which the animal and vegetable kingdom form a sphere of spirituality. The danger of modern society is suggested by the expression of the dee's body, an ancestral, instinctual vigilence. I used gold leaf combined with an extremely meticulous technique in ink, to render each element, reinforcing the idea of sacred space that must be protected and not destroyed by humans. The drawing is framed, plexiglass and high quality wooden frame, ready to hang.

Born in 1982, Timişoara, Romania. Based in Timişoara, Romania. "My current artistic interest is focused on the young feminine figure, not as a portrait but as an archetypal vehicle for different human emotions as well as for certain aspects of metamorphosis. Delicate faces, nostalgic eyes searching the horizon, expressions of fear, hope, honesty, trust, disappointment, love, passion, regrets and expectations with only a glimpse of the unbreakable feminine strength behind them. I use narrative driven images with symbolic twists and turns embedded with elements from the mineral world, plants and fauna, all are interwoven to act as reflections of my personal epiphanies. My work reveals my interest in the escapism and melancholy of the 19th century Romantic aesthetics and the contemporary social environment- a melancholic attitude towards the lost spiritual values, as well as a deep interest for what lies beneath the surface of daily life."
