About The Artwork

This piece is inspired by the garden patio of my neighbor Rosalinda in the el centro neighborhood of Mexico City. Outside of our apartment complex was all the crazy hustle and bustle of the centro...and the smells, we lived on a street of chicken vendors. The Apartment building didn't look very inviting from the outside, but inside was a lovely courtyard filled with equally lovely neighbors. Rosalinda's patio was my favorite! A little tropical oasis in the middle of all the chaos. Santuario en el Centro was created during my time at eeeee, a studio-based residency in Mexico City. Painted with the highest-quality gouache paint and oil pastel on archival cold press watercolor paper. Comes framed in natural walnut, shadow box style with fillet. Framed dimensions 39.125" x 27.375" x 1.75" Ready to hang with wire. Signed on the back of the piece and the back of frame. Ships in Uline Deluxe Artwork shipper.

Anastasia Zielinski (b. 1983 Washington D.C.) is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus in oil painting, mixed-media collage, and installation art. Bright and bold with an emphasis on texture, her art is a celebration of the natural world and the benefits gained from time spent in nature. Anastasia’s multi-layered work is characterized by an abundance of visual information that verges on excess yet is appropriate to the subject. She credits the memory of her mother’s overflowing sewing cabinet for the reoccurring and expansive use of fabric and sewing notions within her work, both as material and inspiration for mark-making. With a BFA from Pratt Institute (2005 Brooklyn, NY) Anastasia’s foundation in traditional oil painting has informed how she approaches other mediums. Ms. Zielinski has shown her work nationally and internationally and has created site-specific installations for INSCAPE arts, Shunpike’s Storefront Seattle, Spaceworks Tacoma, and CLAVO. She currently splits her time between Mexico City and the Pacific Northwest.
