Seeds Drawing

This gouache on Shojoshi paper was inspired by my visit to Morandi studio in Bologna; I like the subtle colors of his paintings and they have been a great inspiration; I like the small size as it makes my works very intimate and appropriate for small spaces. In my meditation room I have a wall full of those works and they are a constant inspiration for new ideas.In my work, I sometimes use pencil, crayon and ink (applied with a pen or with other objects such as a brush or a stick of wood). I view my drawings as a form of language; they function like an alphabet, as do Japanese and Chinese characters. The products is my vision of abstractions that has compel the viewer to interpret the message therein. My manipulation of light, space, scale and repetition appear as textures, suggestions of mood, energy, power and mystery.
