About The Artwork

Black ink on smooth paper, 220gr/mq. Limited(a4 ~ a3+ on art paper only 5+5)prints currently available only in private agreements. In this work, I wanted to recreate a poster of the end of the 18th century. I wanted to imagine a sailor who, returning from a long expedition at sea, tells of having seen a strange marine creature. "new marine creature discovered at the edge of the seas!" . I love the simplicity and ingenuity of the seamen of that time, a bit like me. The title is inspired by the legendary Flying Dutchman.

Andrea Caocci reproduces his life experiences through seafaring themed illustrations. Caocci is strongly inspired by his work trade in the maritime sector and also from his "previous life". From the first works characterized by a synthetic and direct representation, Andrea's journey evolves, trying to reproduce those memories as allegories, including devils, women, bad company/habits and also God. Andrea's works take us into a world of dreams and signs, in places without bewilderment and full of sensations. Currently working on new different project of portraits(coming soon)
