Hanna Romanovich was born in Belarus in 1978. Life in a little village in Soviet Union did not facilitate her artistic development. But she always enjoyed drawing with pencils and gouache. She was always fascinated by the beauty of flowers in her parents’ garden and by fall colors of a nearby forest. Her mother made sure that fine art was a part of their home décor. When she grew up life took its usual course. After high school, she studied in business school, then graduated from Moscow theological Institute and Minsk State Linguistic University. Interestingly none of them have anything to do with fine art. In early 2000s, her introduction to fine art happened when she rented an apartment with a roommate, who was an artist. Hanna could watch as her friend painted beautiful oil paintings and enjoyed her work so much that she convinced her to let her try to paint something. What came out is a tiny little 7.5 x 5.5 inch painting of Eeyore that Hanna treasures a lot. Unfortunately she could not continue to develop her artistic skills because art supplies exceeded her income by a very large margin at that time. Several years later she met an amazing young man, got married and moved to the United States. All drastic life changes stir nostalgic feelings. In US she started to miss picturesque birch forests of Belarus. So she wanted to purchase a painting of a forest like this, but could not find the one she liked. Hanna started thinking of painting her own landscape. That was the official beginning of her art career. Hanna discovered that art is her real passion. Art helps her to see the beauty of God’s creation and reflect it on canvas. She continues to learn by studying works of her favorite artists, video workshops of Russian and American artists and numerous books. Every day Hanna finds something new in the fascinating world of Fine Art. Art gives her a new lens to view and appreciate God and His creation around us.
