Todd, Frontal Hand on Hip Drawing

I draw the human figure. There are three options for a drawing from my life drawing sessions to take. First, if a drawing is successful with the elegance of line and feels complete with no additional color enhancement it will be part of the Line Drawing Collection. Second, drawings could be selected as part of the Touch of Color Drawings when colored pencil is used to give a sweet and subtle color enhancement. The third path is the Painted Drawing Collection. There is nothing subtle about these works or the acrylic paint colors utilized. Bold and force-filled are the qualities of these works. I work in archival materials and I prefer smooth white paper such as Bristol. You will find the emphasis in my drawing to be line, manipulation of proportion, and volume. Always there is emotion, contrast, form, compositional concern, and aesthetic intelligence in my creative work. St. Paul Minnesota is the site of my home and studio. A native of Boone, Iowa, I received my undergraduate degree in visual art from the University of Iowa and my graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. At the U of I found doors to the universe of perception and creative possibility creak and even sometimes crash open. With fits and starts and varying degrees of intensity since that four-year brief launching, I have been on a sine wave of an artist’s life.
