Untitled V Drawing

This work is part of an untitled series, inspired by the color composition of Willem De Kooning's more pastel coloured works. It’s also majorly inspired by the movement of music, and the natural childish need to create, even if it’s through abstract scribbles using whatever color they have at their fingertips. I started making abstract studies in my notebook using coloured pencils, and after making about 10 I realized that these would look great in a larger, more whimsical scale. So I started making this series directly in my notebook, and then cutting them out of it, to then be placed in a frame. I hope that this series invokes a more childish spirit in the viewer, whilst also letting them explore the different shapes created by the natural movements of the body.
