About The Artwork
This charcoal drawing was inspired by a friend and fabulous yoga teacher who always pushes poses towards the intense and the artistic. I noticed the beautiful symmetry and "which way is up" nature of this pose as well as the mystery of her face hidden behind the arms and felt the strong need to capture it. I hope viewers can appreciate the intensity and strength behind it as well as the shapes it takes from different angles and orientations. The charcoal work is on Strathmore 500 series, the best and most archival of charcoal paper.
