ABOUT THE AUTHOR
In this turbulent time of ours with everchanging values, Orioli's serious approach has a more personal attitude, he is actually a - sign of the times, a sign that things move from talent and personality, and not from accepted programs and their violent exposure.(Josip Depolo, 1982.) In his drawings you can see the harshness of Gesture and the discipline of craft, no matter if its about dotted lines or parallel lines, in aquarelles and Indian ink Orioli gives in to challenges of stains and the temptation of filling the surface.(Tonko Maroevic, 1983.) With deliberate deforming of motives and turning characters into darkly marked actors, he takes a distance from the obvious illusion and withdraws in a world of blunt critic thinking.(Zeljko Sabol, 1984.) With clear and recognizable thematic preoccupation Dario Orioli did not only keep his characteristic and motive repertoire but jumped out of his generation context with this themes.(Milan Beslic, 1985.) It is up to us to establish if an early productive line of his work became thinner, and that his lust to be present - to define himself in time and space - achieved broader horizons.(Josip Skunca, 1987.) These signs of directions, of traffic are our social alphabet signs, language and grammar with which we roam, seek, find, live, leave, travel, .and again and all the time,,, (Marin Perkovic, 1990.) Since his first paintings, from interiors, Dario Orioli surprises art conoisseurs with the specific bizarre of his picture.(Gjuro Vangjura, 1997.) Paradoxally, even if roads and promenades dominate in Orioli's paintings, the painter is more concentrated on the moments of expectation and solitude than the rush hour city traffic. (Darko Glavan 1998.)
