At first glance ‘Both sides of my mouth’ is a neon expression of love, gratitude and peace. However, this light catches the edges of other words within the work - words that announces a clear juxtaposition. A resting weep. Cut out of clear plexiglass, an extra sentence is partially illuminated - designed to be invisible and present at the same time. Both sides of my mouth is about what we say, what we don’t say, how we feel, who we hold near (person or community), how we can view ourselves and the connection between thought and emotion.
