'Butterfly Ball' has been inspired by sitting in a field in late July and watching a group of male 'Orange tip' butterflies flying in a 'ball' 'fighting' over the females!
I created this piece to replicate this and show the diversity of the species and the different types of exotic butterfly and wanted to show the viewer the beauty that I see every day.
I have used real butterflies that have all been sourced from sustainable conservation farms and encased them in a glass dome.
Sustainable conservation farms help not only the local population of villages and people but, help to tackle illegal poaching. More importantly, they help introduce more numbers of the species back into nature thus, assisting the fragility of the species when their habitat is under threat from 'developers'.
