About The Artwork
"Chroma I", abstract wall relief by paper artist Dana Shek. This abstract artwork is inspired by a sunset. I combined fuscia, pink, orange and yellow papers until I found the right balance of colours. The range of hues in my colour palette creates an ombre effect. I individually hand sculpted the papers to create curves which were then applied to canvas. The paper has a depth of 5cm which creates shadows. When the paper wall relief is viewed from one side to the other tones, shades and shadows shift. It is this subtle transition when the sun sets that I hope to emulate.

I moved to Hong Kong after graduating from Loughborough University School of Art and Design, UK. I was an art consultant and gallery manager before pursuing a career as a visual artist. When I studied Multi-Media Textile Design it was the process of making which I enjoy the most. Although working in the art industry was an invaluable experience, after nearly a decade, I was at a turning point. In the end, it was time to make art again. Because of my textile art background, I am drawn to colour, texture as well as tactile materials. My work includes textile art, paper art, paper cutting, paper collage, and also digital art.
