Dead parents' house Installation

The title of this piece by Manuel Granados already gives us the clue that we are faced with a work whose fundamental part is the family home; Almost 30 years after becoming independent, she returns to an empty house, just as her parents have left her, intervening with a series of videos that she projects on the walls, furniture and objects in the different rooms. On the one hand, there is a clear commitment to the memory of the space he shared with his parents and five siblings during his childhood and adolescence; The house is the container of memories that exist physically, filling and generating a territory where to act, but also preserves the memory of invisible experiences of the past that permeate the imaginary of the artist. All this exerts on him an attraction and indefinite motivation that is transferable to the viewer. The house becomes an essential and unique brushstroke of a work that can never be transported or hung on any wall. The house is the origin and end of a situational art in the sense that it creates an event. In second place are the videos made during the years 2017 and 2018 as a recent memory that are projected on past experiences. The choice of video art is related, in some way, with the pain inherent in family relationships; with the attachment to things, emotions, even life itself; with the desired spirituality and often misunderstood; construction / destruction are present; and of course, reference the moods and conscience that the author keeps of those years. Despite respecting the memory of what it has been (Manuel has left the house and his belongings as he was, without removing or putting anything, has avoided any changes that would facilitate the work, improve the composition or aesthetically embellish the result), understand that the videos will interact in that small battlefield producing an alteration, generating a new memory, an unknown scenario that will be incorporated into the existing emotional map.
