About The Artwork

Created for Trails and Vistas Art Hike: Tahoe Cross Country Ski Trails, Tahoe City, CA. 2019 22 kinetic sculptures/mobiles were created out of painted plexiglass and aluminum rods. The mobiles were suspended around a Ponderosa Pine, along a 3-hour guided art hike. They moved independently in different directions with the wind. Because the pieces are transparent, the blue shadow cast was especially beautiful and really adds to the finished artwork. Trails & Vistas mission is to create community by celebrating the arts and nature. The Art Hike featured about a dozen visual and performing artists. The theme of the art hike was to explore the emotional experiences with the color blue: the calm, the tranquil, the emotional, the somber, and the healing associations. Emphasizing the beauty in both light and darkness, color shadow played a big role, so ample sunlight was needed to cast the colors onto the ground. "Finding Light in the Shadows" 2019

Combining layers of pointillism, impressionism and abstraction, I look to capture the expression of fleeting light and tranquility of mind and space. Light, water and movement are my favorite subjects. ____________________________________ Kristen Pobatschnig is an artist who emphasizes light and movement in a whirlwind of fleeting dots and forms.
