I try to describe this work, but it will not be easy as it has its roots in a very unique feeling that I experienced in connection with the death of people dear. These were old, on that occasion I had the feeling that they were child. It was not an hallucination, but it was a feeling that I felt towards them. The dominant feeling was up of tenderness. Death takes away not only an old, but a lifetime rich of experiences, a person that one day he was a child, the joy of own parents, a child with a future and thousand projects. What dies is not just a poor old man, but all these. A further interpretation of this work I made, following further reflections on the death of these two dear people: I do not have children, and in truth in these years I have not felt the need except at time of these deaths. On this occasion, for the first time I would have liked to have a child. This link between life and death I think is in the Darwin's theory of evolution. Death only makes sense if it is functional to the continuation of the species. I believe that this link between life and death is very strong, it is biological link. The photos were arranged in two rows for ease of layout. The work is to be exposed on the wall on one line

I resume making art after a long period of interruption. I thought I could start from where I left off. To my surprise my work had mutated. It was as if my work had become a tool with which my emotions and memories may emerge - a kind of self-analysis.. It was as if my work had become an instrument with which my emotions and memories could emerge - a sort of auto analysis. The works I produce today have a central theme - time. These works are on memory, separation, life and death, games played when I was a child and the transformation of our bodies over the passing years. Probably, these themes have been stimulated by the actual phase of my life. I am 60 and at an age when you begin to look back on your own experiences, your own past. It is a moment in your life when your dear ones start to die; it is also a moment in your life when the probability of dying increases. As to the aesthetics, my work is characterized by a precise choice attributing importance to all the structural elements typical of a painting - frame, mount, glass and so on. All these elements contribute to the completion of an artwork. My favourite technique is the collage of photographic images taken from family photo albums, or produced specifically for the artwork with relationship to past images.
