About The Artwork

This artwork belongs to a series of 17 paintographies devoted to dance. The title is explained by the gesture of the ballerina who curtseys, who bows. This painting is made in mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (numerous layers of acrylic glaze and relief squares), it is a unique piece and it comes with a certificate of authenticity. The painting is framed in a black wood (total dimensions: approximately 106 x 86 x 3.5 cm).

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
