About The Artwork

After all these years of loneliness, misunderstanding, pain and suffering, I finally found myself, I found my place on earth, I found home and peace. In the end, I also took up the fight to overcome the addiction to all drugs that had kept me alive so far. I know I don't need them anymore and I can finally walk out the front door of my crystal palace and never look back. I burn without regret the last bridges connecting me to the past. I start to breathe. I made my choice and now I wake up with a smile every day, ready for whatever else life has prepared for me. This series is a therapy for getting out of addiction, the story of my life told without any regrets and sadness, it is a kind of catharsis. This series is my farewell to the past. IMPORTANT: Dimensions are without frame.

Mathilda is the pseudonym of a Polish artist working primarily in modern art, abstraction, minimalism, and installations on canvases and beyond. Her adventure with art began in early 2018, and her first great inspiration was Jean Michale Basquiat. It was the story of this artist that caused her to simply pick up a brush one day and start painting. She took her first steps in street art, which allowed her to explore and get to know this artistic environment very well (often personally). Some of her works can still be found on Polish, Dutch, and German streets. For a while, she was also involved in a project that touched upon critical art which allowed the artist to develop her craft and skills. Through curiosity and a constant desire for new challenges, she finally turned to modern art. She chose abstraction. And it is abstraction that has been feeding her soul for more than three years and offering endless possibilities and challenges. The artist does not stick to one style or canon, and her creativity, unlimited imagination and courage allow her to try new things and experiment with different media, tools or substrates, which ultimately gives her a wide range of possibilities for expressing herself, her sensitivity and her emotionality. Behind every painting created by the artist is her own story, and this is undoubtedly what is quintessential to her work and forever leaves a part of her soul in each piece. "HER LIFE IS HER ART" *** You don't need to understand art. Art should be felt. Past, history, education, beginnings, plans, future, successes or failures do not matter. When you are alone with art it doesn't matter if you are the creator or the recipient of the art work. The only thing that matters is what you feel in this exact moment.
