In the heart of Shiraz, Iran, a city rich in history and culture, Shiva Mazloom discovered the power of art. Born into a family facing religious persecution and systemic oppression after the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Shiva lived in a world that silenced women and stifled ambition. Her father nurtured her passion for painting, enrolling her in watercolor classes as a child. For Shiva, art became her sanctuary—a means of escape and a voice in a world that sought to suppress her. As a young woman in Iran, Shiva faced restrictions that denied her opportunities afforded to others. The oppression she endured, coupled with her family’s persecution, deeply shaped her artistic vision. Art became her way to process emotions and imagine a world beyond societal constraints. These struggles defined her introspective style, celebrated today for evoking emotion and telling deeply personal stories. At the age of 20, Shiva made the difficult decision to leave her homeland and move to the United States, seeking creative freedom. There, she explored mixed media and taught herself abstract art. Layer by layer, her work evolved into a deeply personal process, as each stroke told a story of her past and her evolving journey. Her vivid textures and bold compositions invite viewers to find their own narratives of resilience and transformation. Throughout her life, Shiva recalled dreams that, at first, seemed abstract. As she painted, these dreams revealed their connection to future experiences. Stories emerged organically in her art, their deeper meanings becoming clear through a spiritual lens. Her work reflects her journey and universal truths about perseverance and hope. In recent years, Shiva faced another trial. Over a three-year period, a malevolent group conspired to destroy her marriage, family relationships, and business. Through defamation and manipulation, they sought to isolate her and cause unimaginable pain. Amid this chaos, Shiva turned to her art and faith, experiencing an awakening and spiritual rebirth. Art became her lifeline, helping her process pain and transform it into beauty. These works, layered with emotion and symbolism, became raw, evocative masterpieces that deeply connect with viewers. This transformative period clarified Shiva’s mission: to use her art for connection and empowerment. She is launching a collection of 200 pieces created over 25 years, many featuring hidden layers of earlier paintings that symbolize her life’s chapters.
