"Friendship" Artwork

As a portrait artist, I draw inspiration for my artworks from the body languages, facial expressions, gestures and postures of people. I am always amazed by how light hits the features of a human body and casts shadow in places, how we express ourselves spontaneously with the wonderful art of body language with or without verbalising something. My art lies somewhere between realism and conceptualisation or even surrealism, at times; whereas my colour selection is heavily influenced by the seasonal beauty of nature. I love to drench my portraitures in seasonal colour palettes.

My arts can be called the close-up shots of my subjects who are real people with their own personality traits and emotions. I draw them from how they make me feel, how they appear in front of my eyes. I cannot be at one with them since they are their own person. What I do instead is to portray them from my own perception. So yes, there is a bit subjectivity involved in my arts. My portraits engage intimately with the subjects up close almost as a close friend but of course with due reverence.
