Jayson Lilley’s practice incorporates both painting and screen printing, and is characterised by his strong compositional form and a limited palette, where he uses high contrasts with light and shadow to convey form and silhouette. Jayson draws his inspiration predominantly from his environment, and particularly, the hustle and bustle of city life. His love of 1920’s Bauhaus and Art Deco in the 30’s, through to Brutalism of the 50’s and 60’s, is evident throughout his work. He has gained worldwide recognition and acclaim for his striking images of London landmarks. His more recent works focus on social scenes within the city, studying interaction with the urban landscape and subtle exchanges between people. Jayson trained at UCA, where he gained a First Class Honours Degree in Visual Communication, and worked in graphic design and book cover design for a number of years, which is reflected in the bold, graphic style of his practice. His paintings are represented by galleries worldwide and held in numerous collections. His screen prints have been reproduced extensively around the world and his clients include Battersea Power Station Development Company, Habitat, The Goldman Sachs Group and Berkshire Hathaway• to name just a few.
