About the Artist

Line Marsdal

Norway

Line Marsdal (b-1974) was born and raised in Oslo and still lives and works there as an artist.
Painting has been the main focus for the past nine years, but it started in graphic design and photography. Continued with graphics, in particular photopolymer intaglio printing, screen printing and linocuts provided a lot of inspiration. DGA came later as a combination (and conclusion) of all previous techniques.

One recurring theme in my work is the urban everyday slice of moment. Something known and familiar, maybe even so familiar that you don’t register it anymore. The habits and the people within a city.
Another theme is keeping the mind of the child. The playfulness, the simple view on life, the magic that grownups don’t see. Sometimes with an underlying rebellious touch to 'jante law' and society's systems and rules.
Body language, colours and other details work as main storytelling triggers.
