About The Artwork

'Striving for the Impossible' is part of my D.O.S.E Collection of mood enhancing art. It is the result of my exploration into and experimentation with the alluring qualities of acrylic paints combined with various art materials to enable 3D forms. Each 'ruffle' and 'stump' is decorated in joyous colors and patterns then individually hand-formed and placed in a bed of resin to create a sculptural relief artwork. I seek to arouse feelings of happiness and curiosity in the viewer; to create a vision of beauty and a place of fascination into which the view can immerse themselves This artwork is unique, signed on the side and ready to hang.

In 2016, after 2 years of full-time tuition at the New York Art Students League and the prior 20 years as a designer/photographer, I transitioned to focus entirely on my professional art practice. I describe myself as a “multidisciplinary” artist. During the year 2020, I enjoyed some eureka moments in my creative journey. The 12 months of isolation demanded by the CoVid pandemic, offered me the precious commodity of time, to further explore and experiment with the alluring qualities of paints and materials. Insodoing, I was able to develop a unique technique to integrate 3D acrylic paint forms with the substrate painted surface thereby creating the appearance of a sculptural relief painting. The resulting creations have been described as “at once striking, complex, engaging and affecting”.
