About The Artwork

Snow-Woman Collection piece No.5, 'Teary-Eyed II'. 'Come closer to me & your eyes will light up, that more beauty is to be discovered in the depth of layers.' The complexity of the layered composition leads the viewer's eyes into the unknown focusing on the colour proportions and restructured textures within the artwork.  'Teary-Eyed II', plays upon the visual energy of each viewer that dedicates their time to this piece and how much time they spend analysing it determines the beauty they take away from it.  The artwork invites the viewer to come closer and discover the hidden layers within. Through the use of colour and texture, Sophie creates a sense of depth and complexity, encouraging the viewer to explore and discover more. The phrase, 'Come closer to me & your eyes will light up,' emphasizes the idea that there is more beauty to be discovered in the depth of layers."

Sophie Elizabeth Hall (1998) is a Contemporary Fine Art Artist. Her main body of work consists of energetic and mid-scale abstract paintings. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours from Loughborough University, she is now based in her studio in London. Sophie has developed a unique artistic process that enables her to be expressive. She draws inspiration from the beauty she sees in nature, deriving ideas from her own photography. Her process involves using projection to create visual shapes and structures, which she then uses as a template to freely paint. She focuses heavily on the quality of lines, silhouettes, and shadows, layering up various gestural brush strokes and dynamic details with different mediums and unconventional tools. Sophie's work draws upon her personal experiences and memories, which evoke feelings of joy, intensity, spirituality, conflict, and resolution. Her colour palette is deemed saturated, muted, and eerie, enhancing her conceptual work with positive and negative shapes within space, along with the dynamism of textures. Sophie incorporates modern technology into her work, creating a modernised feel to her Mixed Media outcomes, eluding a contemporary style to look more tailored. She wants to raise awareness that we as humans are only able to see 0.0035% of God's creation through our eyes. Her aim is to capture and show more remarkable beauty and elegance translated through her artwork. Her process builds upon fragmented layering through a filter process. Sophie believes that the way we can establish seeing further beauty in God's creation is through the power of modern-day technology. Her focus is predominantly on simplistic forms naturally occurring in nature. She intentionally aims to entice viewers to discover more beauty within her artwork by appreciating the most and purest simplistic elements in life. Sophie sees the most beauty in simplicity. She tries to create artwork where viewers can see more than just 0.0035% of nature's beauty. She keeps her artwork raw as a reflection of nature being natural and untouched by human hands.
