About The Artwork

Eighty years ago, the Joker, a character with a criminal mind, first appeared in DC Comics history as the archenemy of the superhero Batman. Since then, the Joker has been part of most of the stories that define the superhero. There have been countless artists who, through different artistic techniques and multiple styles, have drawn this character according to the different appearances he has had over the years. However, the Joker had never been dressed in Versace, until today. In a large format and with a variety of exclusive patterns and colors, which feature him, The Joker is represented here on a gray background, and in the center of the composition with a gray halo behind him, where you can clearly read the logo of the Italian fashion brand, Versace. Using the materials of ©Versace Home, one of the most important high couture brands in the world, Garotto has portrayed Gotham’s supervillain with green eyes and with his characteristic smile, dressed for the occasion in a floral print suit and with the elegance that characterizes the creative universe of Versace. With a variety of textures and an explosion of bright colors, Garotto endows this character, for the first time in history, with the glamour and unique style that he deserves and that also emphasizes Versace’s iconic design.

After many years working around the world drawing for Disney, Warner Bros. and many other major studios, Garotto took it upon himself to gain experience doing multifaceted projects such as work for samba schools creating carnival parade floats in Brazil, bespoke handmade furniture in Argentina, or large-format plaster, stone and wood sculptures around the world. Many of his acclaimed artwork were collaborations with other brands or artists of a wide range of styles and concepts such as when he designed clothing and apparel for Warner Bros., merchandise of all kinds for motorcycle clubs and TV shows or explored working with visual street artists. Until now, his latest collaborative partnership had been with excellent Disney animator, Tony Fernández, bringing some of Tony's sketches, drawings and concept art to “life” with three-dimensional form and texture in unique handmade sculptures, that merge together Tony’s creativity with Garotto’s superb craftsmanship working with different materials and techniques Once such undertaking was completed, being a huge fan of fashion, both pret-a-porter and haute couture, he decided to start creating art inspired by and paying homage to influential fashion designers of his time, conceptualizing each piece of art either according to his own imagination or a fusion combining other artistic visions. He has started off with a tribute to ©Versace, comprising collages on canvas and sculptures, using only high-quality materials, officially licensed fabrics, wallpaper and wall patterns from the ©Versace fashion and home decor collections. Currently, he has joined forces with Corner4art for the exclusive worldwide distribution of his multi-awarded work under the brand name Garotto Art.
