Troubling Times Artwork

This piece was created using actual newspaper articles about President John F. Kennedy's assassination on 24-inch x 24-inch stretch canvas. I was 4 years old when President Kennedy was assassinated. I was at my friend's house sitting at the kitchen table with her and her siblings. We were playing Tic Tac Toe and watching cartoons when her mother got the call. I remember her mother saying “Hello” and her whole expression changed. She immediately ran to the TV which was sitting on top of the refrigerator and turned the to the news. We were upset that she changed the channel, but she told us to ‘Hush’ that President Kennedy had been killed. I didn’t know much then about the impact, but I knew we were in ‘Troubling Times’
