About The Artwork

This is part of my "Shapes" series, merging static shapes with undulating elements. Shapes are an ever-present part of life around us. They "shape" our thoughts and our environment. Everything evolves from a basic shape and Nature takes it from there. For this piece of artwork I use an oil painting that I had created and transferred the image of the painting onto my computer. I manipulated the image of the painting and merged it with various shapes and emerged with this unusual interpretation of undulating movement. This piece is printed on acrylic film which is then fused to the back of a clear acrylic panel. This presentation method brings out the vibrancy of the colors to create an exciting visual experience. It is mounted to the wall by 4 metal standoff posts which are included. When mounted, it stands slightly away from the wall which gives it the appearance of floating; creating a clean, contemporary, and very attractive look.

I live in Rouses Point, New York where I divide my time between painting in my studio at home, and painting in Burlington,Vermont. For many years I worked as a successful graphic designer, but I've always been a fine artist in my heart. I paint with water soluble oils and create digital paintings also. Many times when I approach a piece of art, I will start with nothing and often with no plan – armed with only the desire to create something. Sometimes I don't even have a grand plan or a direction. When this happens, I just start with something simple; like a square or a dot or a circle or just a random stroke. It begins as a mystery, then the painting evolves from there. For me, part of the excitement is watching it take on a life of it's own and to be an intrinsic part of that. It doesn't matter if it's an exact representation as long as it has LIFE! I'm an emotional artist and color plays a big part in many of my works. It gets me stirred up and I think it lends tremendous impact to the grand finale. Personally, I think art is a journey to one of higher levels of one's life experience. It's an adventure I throw myself into as often as I can!
