Inspiration: I playfully depicted characters whose bodies express that we face the challenges of life in our own unique way. The multiplication or amplification of the upper and lower limbs, the absence of the trunk, the disproportions and distortions of the body evoke different realities or symbolize certain notions, notably: the accelerated pace of life, multiple activities, the omnipresence of entertainment, the quest for balance and interiority, and self-realization. NOTE: Mixed media on heavyweight, 100% cotton, and acid free paper. This work is shipped flat. The work is placed in an archival safe (acid and lignin free) bag, between two pieces of rigid foam board, wrapped with bubble wrap in a corrugated cardboard box.

YARO (Roland Benoit) was born in New Liskeard (Ontario) Canada. After his Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Literature, he established in Montreal, Québec. He worked in the communications field as a writer and illustrator. During many years he pursued his studies in visual arts (drawing, painting and mixed media). His works of art have won prizes and are part of private and public collections. Motivation and Artistic Intent Through poetic and expressive bodies, I make visible the inner distortions that are part of us. I believe they greatly influence our identity, self-perception, and relationships. Over the years, creativity has become one of my favorite means of self-expression. To me, art is a way to understand and question myself and the society in which I live in. Who am I? What is the meaning of life and my deepest aspirations? What are my hopes for humanity? I am inspired by these questions and life experiences. Each of us has a unique story and I believe that sharing, on multiple levels, is a path to peace and unity.
