(m1thr0s is this artist's name- Saatchi does not allow for numeric characters) Born in Berkeley in 1953 on the cusp of the water snake and dragon years, m1thr0s has been a dedicated student of the I Ching, Hermetic Qabbalah, Taoism and Tantricism his entire adult life. His art features classical elements and symbols from diverse occult sources such as the qabbalistic Tree of Life, The Egyptian Flower of Life, the I Ching Hexagrams, Magickal Seals and Sigils, Magickal Squares and many others. His work specializes in closely examining the road-less-taken within mainstream metaphysical models and is therefor erich in futuristic possibilities. m1thr0s defines himself as a Talismanic Artist. His work is unique in that it virtually always deals with theoretical alchemical constructs expressed visually. These span a very wide range of magickal/mystical territory but always correspond to one or another underlying principles of Mutational Alchemy, which has been his driving passion for over 40 years at this writing. Mutational Alchemy is an original hybrid form of Hermetic Alchemy fuelled by m1thr0s' own alchemical investigations. It fuses Eastern and Western Internal Alchemy principles arriving at vital syncretic directives for modern metaphysics. These rare alchemical expressions are highly technical studies that may, in some cases, constitute many years of dedicated research and unlock previously unexamined models of higher order Mind and Matter. He tracks what he refers to as internal star alchemy, capturing the anatomics of the Body of Light in ways reminiscent of classical cosmological models in antiquity but not confined to them.
