Jan Snijders is born in the south of the Netherlands in the city of Breda in 1947. He has been studied for document organiser and has been working for the government of Amsterdam and for Philips Electronics. In his free time he studied drawing and painting and after his resignation he worked full time as an independent artist. Now he lives and works in Amsterdam, the capital of the country. He likes to observe people in their everyday live mostly while he sits on a terrace with a good glass of whine or on a bench in the park. When he is satisfied and inspired he then gets to his home and start to work.Jan composes everyday printed advertising material and photographs from folders and glossy magazines and also his own photos to a unreal scenery that looks like a real life thing. He manipulates the pictures in every way you can imagine but he always do this in a discreet way. You have to look good to see these manipulated errors which are mostly made on purpose. The final artwork appears as real good contrived; the composition, the scenery and the use of the digital possibilitys are well considered. The way of working stays always almost the same. Single copies are being put on there place so a new image arises. He do have used the photocopier, the fax machine before he started to use the digital camera and the computer.
