About The Artwork

A painted warrior stands on a rocky cliff. On his arm sits his companion, a red-tailed hawk. The Native American man wears dark brown and red war paint on his body and carries as tomahawk. Both he and his hawk look across a forest covered valley dominated by an large, rocky, mountain with snowy peaks. To many American Indians, hawks are a powerful and spiritual symbol. The meaning, however, does vary from tribe to tribe. To some tribes, they offer protection from evil spirits or represent the elements of storms, to other groups they represent speed, dedication, and vision. Much like eagle feathers, the feathers of a Red Tailed hawk are often considered sacred and are used in ceremonies. Possession of such feathers is subject to the Eagle Feather law. About how I create my artwork: Rather than traditional forms of art such as painting or photography, I use a computer to create my images., It's called 3D Rendering and works like so: I make a scene by sculpting and arranging digital models in a virtual 3D space., After stipulating lighting and atmospheric effects, I have the computer create a simulated environment from which I take a virtual snap shot of the scene. Then, using image editing software and something more akin to traditional painting techniques (via a Wacom tablet), I go over the work adjusting colors, adding brushwork, painting in details, etc. to produce the final image. Software I use includes: Sculptris ZBrush, Blender3d, Vue, Daz Studio, and GIMP. Thanks for looking! Daniel Eskridge

I want my art to be the doorway to ones imagination, a spark that leads to daydreams of journeys into history, fantasy worlds, and even the occassional dark lands of horror. Hence, I refer to my art as work as "Adventurous Art". Growing up in the foothills of the Appalachians, I've spent a great deal of time outdoors hiking, fishing and camping in the forests of north Georgia. Consequently, nature and organic forms play a big role in my images. I like to portray animals and creatures, but I’ll depict the occasional person as well; and almost always set in a natural environment. My art has been featured in the pages of Wild West, natural history, and horror magazines. I've had illustrations appear on everything from the covers of fantasy novels to the science sections of newspapers. A few of my works have even found their way into museums of science and history. So, welcome...and sit back and enjoy the adventure.
