About The Artwork

Thinking about Milan's vegetal imprints always reminds me of what Picasso once said - "it took me a lifetime to paint like a child". Those prints are the result of more than 30 years of experimenting with graphic techniques, to find the best way to preserve the essence of the magnificent world of Flora. It all began as a student project for the Landscape Architecture University in Belgrade. The project was a challenge to make an "eternal herbarium", and quickly grew into a passion that never left the artist. As Milan said, those prints are intimate spirited reminders of the greatness of nature, and a guideline to his own place in this world. The hardest thing in this artistic meditation and it's greatest achievement during this process was setting the Ego aside - conscious abandonment of all possible attractive methods of changing nature, and respecting the simplicity and self-sufficiency of its vegetal state. He seeks a stripped essential platonic Idea of the plants used. All the prints are produced through Monotype process in Paris, France.
