Illustrated here is the 1990 Bowden painting on canvas of the iconic George Nelson PRETZEL CHAIR ca. 1952. BOWDEN has created thirteen colorations of this iconic design, this variation is Lot 323 Pretzel Chair -Yellow. As listed in a 1990 Don Treadway Auction Catalog as Lot 323. Bowden's original paintings of these Retro Modern items predicted our reawakened appreciation of these innovative designs, and remind us of the fickle barometer of fashion and style. They are at-once, both, a celebration and appreciation of creative design, an exploration of color and form, and a comment on our ever-changing culture.
