The Forest shows a fly trying to negotiate his way past or through a thicket of swatters. This fly came from the first Rubberfish animation "Discipline" featuring Ms Swat and her appliance. Unfortunately he met his demise very quickly but has been revived for this swat-toon. When I was very young I was allowed to look at a book that belonged to my mum, it was of the Disney film The Three Orphan Kittens. It was quite big and wider than it was long, and each page had the text on one side and the picture on the other. I remember distinctly the detail of the interior scenes, the colourful inks and the thickness of the yellowing paper. This fascination for that book never left me and I channeled that feeling in my animations and in the resulting prints. The actual image size is 35cm x 20cm while the paper Size: 42cm x 29.7cm which leaves a nice border to play with. Printed using LUCIA Pigment based Inks (offering enhanced print longevity) on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper -308gsm (Artsure approved).

I've been committed to a creative occupation for 25 years. From involvement as part of a pop duo through my experimentation as an animator and artist Ive gathered a wealth of experience and imagery that continuously informs my work. An early dependency on other worlds inspired by the art books I had access to mingled with the delights offered by the telly. Batman and Marine Boy pranced around the Hieronymus Bosch landscape in my head. When I got round to peeking between the covers of an old "Atomage" bondage magazine I was primed and ready. A specialization in animation has augmented a persistent exploration of psychological constraint. Themes of confinement and enthrallment have been present throughout much of my illustration work and have culminated in the Rubberfish animation web-site and the subsequent Ms Swat series of animations and prints. Episodes from the series have been presented at various festivals and competitions worldwide, most notably Bristol Animated Encounters and the Zagreb Film Festival. The bold design and ambiguity of the storylines and characters are well suited to abbreviation and the abstracted prints and storyboards that have resulted continue to resonate with the tension between menace and humour.
