Nacido en Pontedeume (A Coruña) en 1957. Luis Álvarez Torezano es un artista que ha dedicado la mayor parte de su carrera profesional a la arquitectura. En el año 1982 obtiene el título de Arquitecto por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB) de la UPC. Desde entonces compagina su trabajo de arquitecto con la pintura. Su obra pictórica es el resultado de años de evolución inmerso en conseguir un camino personal en el mundo del retrato. Son ejemplo los últimos trabajos, Sobre Negro y Coexistencia de Esencias. Sobre Negro, las figuras aparecen aisladas de su ambiente hasta tal punto que son lo único visible, ejecutadas mediante un ejercicio de relectura del claroscuro. Coesxitencia de Esencias, busca aquello que constituye la disolución del retrato entendido como imagen única y dominante. Evaporando rasgos formales aparecen yuxtapuestas esencias que conviven en el tiempo del personaje.
