Art Description

Painting: Paint, Acrylic, Spray Paint, Ink, Digital on Paper.

This is my artistic interpretation of Stephen Crane's poem:

A man saw a ball of gold in the sky;
He climbed for it,
And eventually he achieved it --
It was clay.

Now this is the strange part:
When the man went to the earth
And looked again,
Lo, there was the ball of gold.
Now this is the strange part:
It was a ball of gold.
Aye, by the heavens, it was a ball of gold.

Stephen Crane

I love this poem because it makes us understand that we never know if our goal is a "ball of gold" or just clay. Or maybe what we perceive as "clay" will turn to be our "gold".

Or maybe the whole idea of "gold", of our approach /understanding/perception of success is "fake"? Has been imposed up on us by the society, schooling etc...
