A Wolf knows better than to tackle a Bear Painting

I am not always sure what I intend to paint. Most times I have a feeling or a thought. This started with images of forests and foliage, I wanted to capture the sense of nature and quiet and serenity found in the middle of woodlands. For a week or so, stop, start, but no matter what I did the canvas seemed empty. And then an epiphany or an angst or some urge and I began to pour reds and purples. It was chaotic, it was probably born from some inner frustrations, but slowly and slowly I saw it. The bear. No matter how many wolfs cause chaos, or how much fear and dread are caused by their presence. Not matter how much danger they represent, every wolf knows better than to tackle a bear. *** People who view the painting may just see chaos and frenetic patterns, but in the same way it took time to paint, it will take time for the bear to emerge. I have the painting in my bedroom and it will often be the first thing I see when I get up, it provides me with a sense of serenity that we all sometimes need.
