About The Artwork

This work is one of the series of 6 made after a trip to Azores. It is inspired by its volcanic landscape and projects the strong transformative power which can be felt there. Some of the marks on the artwork are made with the volcanic coal piece found there.

Aurelija is Lithuanian born interdisciplinary artist who recently relocated back to Germany after seven years living in The Netherlands. With the background in textile design, fashion, business, art and current philosophy studies she pushes the boundaries of the artist archetype. Driven by curiosity her constant growth is at the same time exploration of the boundaries of self-perception. How the inner affects the outer and visa versus are questions which reflect themselves in her work as well as human connection to nature. She questions our understanding of Life in general. Interconnection of all life seems to be visible in many of her powerful, often mystical and contemplative works of art. - From the space of contemplation magic happens. Art is life. Life is art. We all create every day on different levels. Thought, word and deed are our tools. Even if we are not conscious of our creations they shape our everyday life. So in a profound way of looking at life we are all artists creating and shaping our realities on a personal as well as on a collective level. Different things can happen but we always have the power of deciding how the story will go on. Which direction it will take from point being. Our reaction is what determines the path. With my art I tend to touch existential topics of life as I wish it to be a tool for your inspiration. The deep relationship between Life in nature and the human life is of high interest to me. There is no one without the other. I question our limited understanding of the bigger picture of LIFE. Art has this amazing power to say things in a direct way. It has the power to transport emotion and meaning without words. It has a power to transcend the logical mind and touch us in a very deep way. I aim to grasp something that is not describable in words. Maybe my art can give you a new perspective with which you can reconnect with yourself and your surroundings. I admire the work of many contemporary artists like Sterling Ruby, Heather Day as well as artists from the past like Franc Marc, Frida Kahlo, Rothko, Kandinski, Jackson Polok and Karl Jung. At the same time I am focused on deepening my own unique expression through my independent art practice as well as through different art courses. Very often my work is a mixture of symbols and forms of nature. I work in a very expressive way, using different kind of paints and art materials.
